Bus
Bus is a common electrical path where multiple audio signals are combined and sent to the same destination.
Think of a bus as a main avenue 🛣️. Several audio signals, coming from different channels (the "secondary streets"), are routed to this avenue, where they mix and travel together to a final destination, such as a specific output of the mixer or an effects processor. In a mixing console, there are several different buses, each with a specific function: Mix Bus (or Master Bus): The main bus, where all channels are sent to create the final stereo mix. Subgroup Bus: Used to group and control multiple channels together (e.g., all drum channels). Auxiliary (Aux Bus): Used to create separate mixes for effects or for monitoring musicians. Solo Bus (PFL/AFL): Takes the signal from the "solo" channels to the headphone output.
