CD-R Burner

A CD-R burner is a device capable of recording data onto blank CD-R discs.

It is the device that uses a high-power laser beam to "burn" the organic dye layer of a CD-R disc, creating small marks that represent the digital data (the 0s and 1s). This process is permanent.

CD-R burners were very common equipment in computers (internal or external, via USB) and also existed as independent audio units, allowing the recording of music CDs from other sound sources.
