Chamber Reverb

Chamber Reverb is a type of reverb characterized by a dense and rich sound, but with more clarity and a shorter duration than a Hall reverb.

The term is used in effects processors and plugins to describe an algorithm that simulates this specific sound. It seeks to recreate the sound of a physical reverb chamber, which was the original method of creating reverb artificially.

Historically, a reverb chamber was a medium-sized room, usually in the basement of a studio, with highly reflective surfaces (such as tiles and concrete).

The sound was reproduced by a loudspeaker inside the room and picked up by one or more microphones on the other side. The complexity of the reflections in this space created a dense and lush reverb, but more focused and less "immense" than that of a large concert hall, making it a classic for vocals and instruments in recordings from the 1950s and 60s.
