A Computer is a device that can be programmed to perform logical and arithmetic operations.

It is a machine, usually electronic and digital, designed to process data and perform a wide range of tasks based on a set of instructions (a program). Although analog computers exist, the term today refers almost exclusively to digital ones.

In the context of modern audio production, the computer is the centerpiece of the studio, housing the recording software (DAW - Digital Audio Workstation) and processing all recording, editing, mixing, and mastering tasks.
