D/A Converter
The D/A Converter is the device that "translates" digital audio back into the analog world.
D/A stands for Digital-to-Analog. It does the opposite job of the A/D converter. Think of it as the "output port" of digital audio.
Its function is to take the sequence of numbers (the digital data) from your computer, cell phone, or CD player and convert it back into a continuous analog electrical signal.
This analog signal is what can be sent to an amplifier and, finally, to your speakers or headphones to be transformed into audible sound. The quality of the D/A converter is a crucial factor for the fidelity of audio reproduction. It is an essential component in any audio interface, smartphone, computer sound card, and music player.
