DC (Direct Current)

DC stands for Direct Current.

It is a type of electric current that flows in a single direction, constantly.

It is the form of energy supplied by batteries and used internally to power the circuits of virtually all electronic equipment.

A device's power supply takes Alternating Current (AC) from the wall outlet and converts it to Direct Current (DC) so that the components can function. It contrasts with Alternating Current (AC), where the current constantly changes direction and is used to transmit electrical energy over long distances (the energy from the wall outlet) and to represent audio signals.
