Direct Coupling

Direct Coupling is a method of connecting two stages of an electronic circuit that allows the transfer of both Alternating Current signals, such as audio, and Direct Current signals. By eliminating the use of reactive components, such as capacitors or transformers, in the signal path, this type of connection ensures a frequency response that theoretically extends down to 0 Hz, preserving phase integrity in low frequencies. However, its use requires precise design, as any unwanted DC voltage present at the output of one stage will be fully amplified and transmitted to the next, which can cause damage to speakers or shift the operating point of subsequent circuits.
