Dry

The term Dry describes an audio signal in its pure and original state, free from any ambience or modulation effects processing, such as reverberation, delay, or chorus. It is the direct opposite of the term Wet, which designates the portion of the signal that has been altered by the effect. In the context of mixing, especially when using parallel processors or internal mix controls in plugins, the term Dry refers to the direct sound from the source, while the balance between Dry and Wet determines the intensity with which the effect is perceived in the final listening.
