Dump
The term Dump refers to the act of transferring a block of digital data from one device to another in a raw format. In the context of synthesizers and MIDI equipment, the most common usage is the "SysEx Dump" (System Exclusive Dump). This is the process of transmitting all of an instrument's internal settings — such as patches, sequences, and system adjustments — to a computer or data recorder. This serves both as a form of safety backup (to save your sounds in case the equipment's battery fails) and to transfer complex settings between identical instruments.
