DVS
DVS (acronym for Digital Vinyl System) is a hybrid technology that allows DJs to control and manipulate digital audio files (such as MP3 or WAV) stored on a computer using conventional vinyl turntables or CDJs as the control interface. The system preserves the traditional DJing technique and the tactile feel of "turntablism" (including the ability to scratch), eliminating the need to carry heavy crates of records.
Its operation is based on the use of special "control records" (vinyl or CD) containing a continuous Timecode audio signal. The signal generated by the turntable is sent to an audio interface connected to the computer, where the DJ software interprets this noise. The software analyzes changes in speed, direction, and needle position on the record and instantly applies these movements to the digital file playing on the screen. Although there is inevitable latency (delay) in the processing, in modern systems it is extremely low and practically imperceptible.
