EuCON

EuCon is a proprietary high-speed control protocol originally created by Euphonix and now owned by Avid. It functions over standard Ethernet connections rather than traditional MIDI cabling, which grants it significantly superior bandwidth and resolution. This architecture allows for a deep, bi-directional integration between hardware control surfaces and software Digital Audio Workstations. Unlike simpler protocols like HUI or MCU, EuCon is aware of the specific software functions, allowing the hardware to display detailed feedback such as track names, plugin graphical interfaces, and metering directly on the console's screens. It enables the control surface to switch focus instantly between different open applications on the connected computer, making it a powerful standard for professional post-production and mixing environments.
